Why Is My Heat Pump Not Cooling?
The system runs in cooling mode, but the air isn’t cold.
What could cause this?
- Reversing valve or O/B thermostat configuration
- Low refrigerant
- Airflow restrictions
- Outdoor unit electrical failure
What you can safely check
- Confirm Cool mode and setpoint
- Check the filter
- Look at whether the outdoor unit is running
Don't open electrical panels or equipment cabinets, handle refrigerant, work on gas or combustion components, or bypass safety controls.
When it requires a professional
If it still won’t cool, request service.
How Air Mechanical diagnoses it
We verify mode changeover, refrigerant circuit, airflow and controls.
Every diagnosis starts with the system as it actually exists — equipment, controls, wiring and installation. The equipment has a brand. The problem has a solution.
