Nest Thermostat Says No Power — Why?
The Nest shows a no-power message, a low battery warning, or won’t turn on.
What could cause this?
- No common (C) wire
- Transformer failure
- A tripped safety switch on the equipment, such as a condensate float switch
- Loose or broken wires
- Blown control fuse on the equipment
What you can safely check
- Check whether the furnace, boiler or air handler is powered
- Check for water in an AC drain pan or condensate pump
- Photograph the wiring behind the Nest
Don't open electrical panels or equipment cabinets, handle refrigerant, work on gas or combustion components, or bypass safety controls.
When it requires a professional
Power problems often start at the equipment. Request service — and don’t move or add wires at the equipment yourself.
How Air Mechanical diagnoses it
We trace the power from the transformer through the safeties to the thermostat and correct the cause.
Every diagnosis starts with the system as it actually exists — equipment, controls, wiring and installation. The equipment has a brand. The problem has a solution.
